Farr – Rudder Re-design

It is nearly impossible and very cost prohibitive to improve the performance of a yacht by changing the existing hull shape. However it is relatively easy and inexpensive to alter the keel, rudder, rig and sails to improve performance. Read Press Release.

With so many Beneteau models out there, our website may not keep up with the number of designs we’ve built.   If you don’t see your boat here, contact us.

Beneteau First 26 Rudder

This transom-hung rudder was drawn from measurements taken from a customer’s original.

As always, be sure to check against your own boat’s measurements when ordering, as there may be variations of the same model.

Beneteau First 29 Rudder

We came up with this alternate design after first measuring the customer’s original, on his request for a rudder that would be a bit deeper and higher aspect ratio. Original design also available.

Beneteau 30.5 Rudder

This design came from measuring a customer’s OEM rudder.   We can build it in your choice of stainless steel or carbon posts.

Beneteau 32.5 Rudder

This design developed when the customer dropped his original rudder off at the workshop – he wanted it duplicated but at lighter weight. With a finished weight of about 40lbs, I think we succeeded.

Construction is unidirectional and biaxial eglass over a CoreCell foam core, with a carbon shaft.

Beneteau 345 Rudder

We have built this rudder as a rebuild over the customer’s existing post.  But don’t worry, if you also need a post replacment, we can take care of that for you too.

Beneteau 10R 34.7 Rudder

We are pleased to offer this licensed design upgrade for the Beneteau 10R, also known as the 34.7, as drawn by the Farr design office. View brochure for price.

We installed the larger Farr design rudder on Escapade manufactured by CCI Composites around August 20 and had our first good test in high winds this weekend. We were out in winds of 20 to 30 knots most of Saturday, with big chop. The boat did not threaten to round up unexpectedly all day—and that was with two novice girls taking long training turns at the helm!
The instructor we had on board wanted to do an upwind broaching drill—and could not get the boat to broach!
He was amazed. Yes—it’s not cheap—but in my opinion it’s
well worth the $$ and install effort (which is not that hard).

Beneteau Oceanis 400 Rudder

Our design came from using our 3D scanner to reverse-engineer the shape of a client’s original rudder.   Then we cleaned up the lines and fully developed the design.

Beneteau First 41S5

We developed our First 41S5 rudder as a replacement with carbon fiber post and stainless bearing sleeves.

Beneteau First 42

Beneteau First 44.7

The Beneteau 44.7 design is a recent (2025) addition to our portfolio, after we did a 3D Scan of a client’s original.

Beneteau 46.1

The Beneteau 46.1 rudder was added to our portfolio in 2015, and has been built with a carbon fiber post.

Beneteau First 47.7

Built over a customer’s existing post, this made-to-measure replacement features CNC shaped high density foam cores and a vacuum bagged fiberglass skin. A molded carbon post is also available for additional cost.

If you’re looking to upgrade, we are happy to offer this new First 47.7  rudder design straight from the Farr design office.

Beneteau Idyll 15.5 (51.1) Rudder

The Beneteau Idyll 15.5 is a German Frers design, and they were good enough to send us line drawings when a customer needed a replacement.  Happily we were able to re-use the customer’s old stainless steel post.

Beneteau Idyll 15.5 (51.1) Elliptical Rudder

We created this design for a customer requesting a higher aspect ratio and elliptical geometry to reduce drag. Built around the customers original post, our design has a thinned foil section and and sits 85mm (3 3/8″) deeper than the original while maintaining the same planform area.
