Government Visit Highlights CCI's Dual-Use Capabilities
On March 30, CCI hosted a facility tour and technical briefing with a cross-section of federal, provincial, and regional government representatives. The visit provided a direct look at CCI's advanced composites manufacturing operations and the programs that reflect our growing presence in both defence and commercial markets.
Who attended
The delegation included Jenna Sudds, Member of Parliament for Kanata-Carleton and Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Procurement; Melissa Pearce, Senior Business Advisor at the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade; and David Wybou from Business and Economic Development at Renfrew County.

A focus on dual-use technology
The briefing centred on CCI's dual-use product development, the practice of engineering solutions that meet the performance demands of both defence and commercial applications within the same platform. This approach allows CCI to serve a broader customer base while concentrating expertise and investment within a focused set of technologies.
Having just returned from exhibiting our radome solutions at Satellite 2026, the team was well-positioned to walk through these products in detail. Radomes are protective enclosures that shield antenna systems from environmental exposure while maintaining optimal RF signal performance. They are used across a wide range of sectors, from satellite communications to national security infrastructure.
Active programs
The visit covered several of CCI's current programs, illustrating the range of customers and applications our composites capabilities now serve.
Programs discussed during the visit:
Remote communications shelters in development for the RCMP
Radome systems supporting an Australian counter-drone security organization
A newly installed rooftop radome at the United States Naval Observatory in Washington, DC
Building stakeholder relationships
The visit also opened conversations around government programs and funding mechanisms that support the development and commercialization of dual-use technologies. These discussions aligned closely with CCI's growth strategy and underscored the value of maintaining active relationships across federal, provincial, and regional levels of government.
Connecting government stakeholders directly with our facility and active programs creates a foundation for the kind of long-term collaboration that supports Canadian advanced manufacturing at home and in export markets.
We thank MP Sudds, Melissa Pearce, and David Wybou for making the visit and for their engagement with CCI's work.
